Message: Prayer of Faith

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Topic: Prayer of Faith.  As we learn the Gospel of Jesus, he continuously teaches us through parables and examples.  The sermon show how Jesus teaching to his disciples always follows a pattern.  This can also be applied to every follower:

1) Jesus gives us a Command

2) Jesus gives us a Promise

3) He gives us a Procedure to achieve the command

4) He gives us the Warning if now followed

This message was taken from the context of Mark 11:20-26.  This is where Jesus is noted to have cursed a fig tree which was green but had no fruit.  The Lord Jesus used this tree to teach a lesson to his disciples.

Mark 11:20-26 King James Version (KJV)

20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

About Old Friendship

Old Friendship is one of the oldest churches in Georgia.  It is in fact the oldest African American church in Cobb County (in Marietta, Georgia).

The Story of Old Friendship Baptist Church is one of perseverance and faith in the face of overwhelming odds.  The church is known by its members as the "Old Ship of Zion".  It began in a brush arbor in the Sandtown-Lost Mountain area of west Cobb County, Georgia, in 1854.

Since that time, members have seen the church's building destroyed by wind and fire - multiple times.  yet the church remain standing for it's divine purpose.
